Global Shipping Officer

Role summary The Global Shipping Officer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring all international shipments of materials, equipment, and project cargo. The role ensures compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, Incoterms, import/export laws, and client-specific documentation. The officer works closely with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs authorities, project teams, and clients to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of goods to project sites and warehouses Duties and responsibilities Plan and coordinate international shipments by sea, air, road, rail, and multimodal transportation. arrange freight bookings with shipping lines, airlines, freight forwarders, and logistics providers. Prepare and review shipping documents including: Commercial Invoice Packing List Bill of Lading (B/L) Air Waybill (AWB) Certificate of Origin Insurance Certificate Inspection Certificates Export and Import Permits Coordinate customs clearance activities with customs brokers and government authorities. Process duty exemptions, tax exemptions, and customs documentation in accordance with project and client requirements. Ensure compliance with Incoterms (EXW, FCA, FOB, CFR, CIF, CPT, CIP, DAP, DDP, etc.). Track shipments from manufacturer to warehouse, project site, or final destination. Maintain shipment tracking records and provide regular logistics status reports. Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, finance, suppliers, and project teams to ensure on-time delivery. Resolve shipping delays, customs issues, damaged cargo, and transportation claims. Monitor freight costs and identify opportunities for logistics cost optimization. Verify shipping invoices and coordinate payments with the Finance Department. Maintain complete shipment files and document control. Ensure cargo insurance coverage for international shipments. Coordinate import/export licenses and regulatory approvals where required. Maintain ERP records for purchase orders, shipments, deliveries, and inventory movements. Generate shipping KPIs and logistics performance reports. upport project mobilization by coordinating timely delivery of construction materials and equipment. Perform any other logistics or shipping-related duties assigned by management. Job requirements Education Bachelor's degree in supply chain management , Logistics, Business Administration, International Trade, Commerce, or a related discipline. Professional certifications in Supply Chain, Logistics, Shipping, Customs, or International Trade are preferred. Experience Minimum 5–7 years of experience in international shipping, freight forwarding, logistics, customs clearance, or supply chain operations. Experience supporting EPC, construction, energy, mining, or infrastructure projects is highly preferred. Experience handling project cargo and international procurement logistics is an advantage.
