Construction Engineer

Role summary Job Summary The Construction Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day technical oversight and quality assurance of the construction works for the School constructionand BHC Project in Mazar-e-Sharif. Reporting to the Project Manager and working closely with the Engineering Team at the main office, the incumbent will ensure that all construction activities are implemented in accordance with approved designs, technical specifications, project schedules, donor requirements, and applicable national standards. The Construction Engineer will supervise contractors, monitor construction progress, verify the quality of materials and workmanship, review technical documentation, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements throughout the project lifecycle. The role requires strong coordination with the project team, contractors, consultants, and relevant stakeholders to support the timely completion of the project while maintaining high standards of quality, accountability, and compliance. Duties and responsibilities • Ensure construction work of School & BHC building follows technical specifications, approved drawings, and relevant working standards. • Follow the project implementation based on the approved work plan. • Supervise and monitor construction materials to verify they meet project quality requirements and specifications. • Conduct daily site inspections monitor construction progress and verify compliance with plans and safety practices. • Stay on-site for an extended period to ensure effective implementation and continuous supervision of construction activities. • Support the project manager in preparing and documenting agreements with contractors or communities involved in construction. • Track construction progress and assist in verifying completion percentages for payment approvals. • Prepare and submit daily, weekly and monthly report to project manager and senior management. • Ensure that all safety protocols are followed on-site, including proper use of PPE, signage, and accident prevention. • Collaborate with client to ensure alignment with technical standards. • Maintain proper documentation of work progress, materials used, and any site issues or delays. • Report any quality or compliance concerns immediately to the senior management. • Coordinate with the logistics team to ensure timely delivery of construction materials to the project site. • Assist in verifying the quantity and quality of materials received against delivery notes or purchase orders • Provide daily updates to the logistics office on material needs, stock levels, and usage at the construction site • Help maintain accurate records of materials received, stored, and used at the site for reporting and accountability purposes. • Perform any other duties assigned by the project manager or Senior management in support of construction supervision and implementation Job requirements • MSc/Bsc Degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field. • Minimum of 5–8 years of relevant experience in site supervision, preferably in health facility/building construction. • Willing and able to work in remote and challenging environments, with a strong commitment to long-term field deployment. • Having ability to work under pressure and able to work multi-tasking. • Strong knowledge of local traditions, customs, and cultural sensitivities relevant to the project area. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with community members, colleagues, and stakeholders. • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
