Role summary
Global Star Security Services Company is seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced Senior Security Manager — Expat to support the delivery of security services for the World Bank Group in Kabul, Afghanistan. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily security operations, supervising the guard force, coordinating mobile security support, maintaining client liaison, supporting emergency communications, and ensuring that all security services are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements, client instructions, applicable procedures and professional security standards.
Duties and responsibilities
Managing all aspects of assigned contract security operations. Supervising, training and managing the guard force and operational personnel. Providing daily security supervision over drivers, mobile security teams, armed personnel and support staff. Conducting briefings on the security situation, current threats, restricted areas and operational requirements. Supporting and managing emergency communications, including mobile phones, satellite phones, tracking systems, VHF / UHF communications and SMS alerts. Maintaining liaison with international organizations, diplomatic missions, host government security officials, police officials and other relevant stakeholders. Reviewing, maintaining and exercising contingency plans for fire, bomb threat, rocket attack, civil disorder, medical emergencies, evacuation and relocation. Conducting security briefings for newly arrived staff, visiting missions and other personnel as required. Coordinating additional vehicles, armed escorts, armed guards, unarmed guards and mobile security resources when required. Attending performance meetings, operational coordination meetings and contract review meetings with the client and GSS management. Recommending improvements to the performance, conduct and delivery of security services. Remaining available on a 24/7 basis to respond to operational issues, incidents and emergencies.
Job requirements
Applicants should meet the following minimum requirements: Minimum 10 years’ experience in police, military, security, close protection or related security operations. Minimum 2 years’ experience in Afghanistan or a similar high-threat environment. Minimum 3 years’ experience in a supervisory or management position. Minimum 5 years’ experience liaising with international organizations, diplomatic missions, government authorities or similar stakeholders. Demonstrated experience in guard force management, protective operations, mobile security operations and anti-terrorist driving supervision. Experience in the management or supervision of security training programmes. Professional English language capability, both written and spoken. Dari or Pashto language capability is desirable but not mandatory. Strong report writing, briefing, communication and coordination skills. Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and operational reporting tools. Physically fit and medically capable of performing duties in a high-threat environment. Preferred Qualifications The following qualifications will be an advantage: SIA Frontline Close Protection Licence, CPP certification, or recognized equivalent. Diplomatic or equivalent close protection experience. Medicine in Remote Areas, trauma care or recognized equivalent medical certification. Valid driving licence and experience operating B6 or higher-level armoured vehicles. Weapons competency and authorization, where applicable.
