Media and Outreach Intern

Job Summary Media and Communications Assist in developing engaging content for social media platforms, websites, and newsletters. Capture photographs and videos during organizational events, trainings, and field activities. Support the design of communication materials such as brochures, posters, banners, and infographics using standard design tools. Draft compelling success stories, news articles, press releases, and project highlights. Help maintain and update the organization's website and social media channels. Ensure all produced communication materials strictly comply with the organization’s and donor's branding guidelines. Outreach and Community Engagement Support the planning and implementation of outreach campaigns and awareness activities. Assist in coordinating and maintaining communications with community representatives, local partners, and stakeholders for outreach events. Provide support in organizing virtual or physical workshops, meetings, and public awareness sessions. Help facilitate the distribution of digital communication materials to target audiences. Maintain organized records of outreach activities and participant attendance. Documentation and Reporting Prepare brief activity summaries and contribute to monthly communication progress reports. Organize and maintain the organization’s digital media archives (including categorized photos, videos, and publications) on shared drives. (Addition: Specifying "shared drives" emphasizes good remote data-management habits.) Collect, compile and edit testimonials, beneficiary stories, and field updates. Assist the team in preparing donor visibility materials and communication reports. Job Requirements Education Final-year student or recent graduate in one of the following fields: Journalism Mass Communication Media Studies Public Relations Business Administration Social Sciences Experience Previous internship or volunteer experience in media, communications, or outreach is an asset. Experience managing social media accounts is preferred. Required Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Strong Dari and/or Pashto communication skills. Good photography and videography skills. Basic graphic design skills using Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or similar software. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with Facebook, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Instagram, and YouTube. Strong organizational and time management skills.
