Role summary
The Site Manager is responsible for overseeing all on-site activities related to electrical distribution networks, overhead transmission lines, and substation construction. This role involves supervising contractors and work teams, ensuring that all installation activities are performed according to approved drawings, technical specifications, safety regulations, and project timelines. The Site Manager acts as the key point of coordination at the site, ensuring compliance with quality standards, resolving technical and operational issues, and preparing daily reports for management. The position requires strong technical knowledge, leadership abilities, and hands-on experience in power infrastructure projects. (Note: This vacancy is exclusively for candidates with Site Manager experience in Transmission Line or Substation projects. Applications from candidates without relevant TL/SS experience will not be considered.)
Duties and responsibilities
utilize strong site experience to control, guide, and supervise all site teams, ensuring that daily activities are executed efficiently and strictly aligned with the approved project schedule. Optimize Machinery and Workforce Efficiency: Manage manpower and site machinery effectively, ensuring high productivity, proper utilization, and minimal downtime. Promote Teamwork and Communication: Foster a strong team-oriented environment by maintaining continuous communication with supervisors, technicians, and workers to ensure smooth progress and timely completion of tasks. Coordinate Closely with the Office Project Manager: Maintain regular communication with the Project Manager, providing updates on site progress, challenges, material requirements, risks, and any issues requiring immediate attention. Efficient Control of Materials, Tools, and Equipment: Monitor and manage all materials, tools, equipment, and subcontractor activities at site to ensure proper usage, reduce wastage, and maintain accountability. Material Estimation and Reporting: Review and estimate material requirements in advance based on upcoming activities and share accurate forecasts with the Office Project Manager to avoid delays. Progress Monitoring and Schedule Compliance: Continuously check, compare, and align site progress with the overall project schedule, taking corrective actions to keep the project on track. Ensure Quality and Safety Compliance: Oversee on-site work to ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and technical specifications. Problem Solving at Site: Identify potential site challenges early and implement corrective measures to avoid delays and rework. Coordinate Inspections and Approvals: Arrange and support inspections, testing, and approvals with consultants, utility authorities, and quality teams. Maintain Site Documentation: Prepare daily progress reports, site diaries, material consumption reports, and ensure all relevant documents are updated and accurate. Support Testing and Commissioning Activities: Assist technical teams during testing, energization, and commissioning stages to ensure successful completion. Maintain Site Discipline and Productivity: Ensure all site staff follow company policies, safety rules, and maintain professional behavior throughout execution. Oversee planning, scheduling, and execution of projects. Maintain strong coordination with MEW and other stakeholders. Organize regular team meetings and ensure effective internal communication. Oversee data collection, verification, and documentation processes. Ensure optimal allocation of manpower, machinery, and materials. Manage operational budgets and control costs effectively. Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations and environmental standards.
Job requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil/Electrical engineering from a recognized institution. (Master's degree is preferred) Certifications: Candidates with PMP, OSHA, or similar certificates are preferred. Experience: 5–7 years of hands-on experience in site supervision of Transmission Line and substation projects. Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of LV/MV/HV electrical distribution networks, overhead lines, and substation construction. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, SLDs, layouts, BOQs, and technical specifications. Practical experience in installation of transformers, switchgear, panels, poles, conductors, insulators, and cable systems. Knowledge of electrical testing, commissioning procedures, and inspection requirements. Strong understanding of construction methods, quality control, and material inspection. Ability to supervise multi-discipline site teams and ensure proper work sequencing. Basic knowledge of project scheduling and ability to coordinate according to work plans. Competence in preparing site records, progress reports, and material tracking. Soft Skills: Strong leadership and workforce management ability. Excellent communication and coordination skills with workers, engineers, and stakeholders. Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills in field environments. Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple activities. Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Professional behavior, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility. High safety awareness and commitment to maintaining a safe worksite. Team-player mindset with the ability to motivate and guide site personnel.
