Role summary
The Civil/Fabric Engineer is responsible for the structural integrity, building fabric, and civil works of the bank's building, including walls, roofing, waterproofing, flooring, doors, windows, and general fit-out. This hands-on role involves preventive maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of defects to preserve the safety, appearance, and durability of the building's structure and fabric.
Duties and responsibilities
1) Technical Operations & Maintenance: Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot the building's structural elements, facade, roofing, and waterproofing systems. Oversee the repair and maintenance of flooring, walls, ceilings, doors, windows, and other fabric elements. Manage minor civil works, painting, partitioning, and fit-out or renovation projects. Conduct regular structural and fabric condition surveys, identifying and resolving defects such as cracks, leaks, and corrosion. Develop, implement, and manage a preventive maintenance program for all civil and fabric assets. 2) Compliance & Safety: Ensure all civil/fabric work complies with applicable building codes, structural safety standards, and company policy. Follow safety protocols for working at height, scaffolding, and construction activities. Maintain records of structural inspections, repairs, and certifications. 3) Coordination & Support: Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized civil/structural repairs and renovation projects. Support the Head of Facility / Head Engineer in budgeting and planning for civil/fabric maintenance. Assist in space planning and preparation of layout drawings for renovations and fit-outs. 4) Any other assignment has been given by the line manager.
Job requirements
Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience. Relevant certifications (e.g., Structural Safety, Working at Height) are preferred. Relevant Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in civil/fabric maintenance in a commercial or institutional building environment. Experience managing renovation, fit-out, or minor construction works is preferred. Skills & Competences: Ability to respond to emergency maintenance calls after hours and work flexible hours as needed. English and computer knowledge. In-depth knowledge of building structures, waterproofing, and civil/fabric maintenance practices. Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings. Ability for making layout and renovation/fit-out drawings. Strong troubleshooting ability across all civil and fabric parts of the building, with a focus on building safety and appearance.
