Role summary
The primary objective of engaging these trainers is to build the technical capacity of local SMEs in the principles and practices of ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points). Trainers will equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to develop, implement, and maintain food safety and quality management systems.
Duties and responsibilities
Scope of Work Selected trainers will be responsible for the following key activities: Training Delivery: Conduct an intensive 3–5-day training program in the assigned province(s) for SME representatives and staff. The training must cover the fundamentals of ISO and HACCP standards, implementation steps, and documentation requirements. Material Development: Prepare, adapt, or finalize comprehensive training materials, handouts, and presentations in a clear and accessible format for the target audience. SOP Guidance: Provide practical guidance to participants on developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) relevant to their specific business operations. Reporting: Compile and submit detailed completion reports, including training outcomes, participant feedback, and observations on SME readiness. Post-Training Support: Offer follow-up support (where applicable) to address queries and assist with the initial implementation of learned practices within the duration of the assignment. Target Provinces Trainers are required for the following six provinces. Applicants may apply for one or more provinces based on their availability and expertise: Jalalabad (Nangarhar) Kunduz Kandahar Helmand Herat Badghis Duration The training will be conducted over a period of one week (3 to 5 days) per province. The exact dates will be confirmed upon selection and coordination with project partners. However, the duration of the short-term consultancy is for one month, from 20th August to 20th September 2026.
Job requirements
Qualifications & Experience To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria: Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Food Science, Quality Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or Agriculture). Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of proven experience in delivering professional ISO and/or HACCP training. Both local and international training experience will be considered. Knowledge: Strong understanding of food safety regulations, quality assurance principles, and the specific challenges faced by SMEs in Afghanistan. Skills: Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills. Ability to convey complex technical concepts in a simple and practical manner. Language: Fluency in Dari, Pashto, and English is highly desirable. Additional Requirements: Female candidates can apply, particularly for training assignments in Kandahar and Herat . Priority will be given to candidates who are local residents of the provinces they are applying for. Deliverables Successful trainers are expected to submit the following deliverables to the project team: Training Agenda: A detailed schedule of the training program. Training Materials: Copies of all presentations, handouts, and SOP templates used. Attendance Sheets: Signed and verified attendance records for all participants. Completion Report: A comprehensive final report summarizing the training activities, key outcomes, challenges faced, and recommendations.
