Transmission Line Specialist - (Re - Announced)

Role summary The Transmission Line Specialist shall be responsible for the planning, analysis, design, technical review, and preparation of engineering deliverables for overhead transmission lines at 110 kV, 220 kV, and 500 kV voltage levels. The specialist shall utilize PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, and PLS-POLE software for line routing, structural analysis, and optimization of transmission line systems, including foundation design, preparation of technical specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BoQ) Duties and responsibilities Review and verify contractor design submissions, calculations, drawings, and technical reports for transmission line projects Ensure contractor designs comply with project specifications, international standards (IEC, IEEE, ASCE, CIGRE), and Employer's Requirements Review tower spotting, sag-tension calculations, structural analysis, foundation designs, and material selections submitted by contractors Evaluate design assumptions, loading criteria, design methodologies, and safety factors used by contractors Create, maintain, and update transmission line models using PLS-CADD, including line routing, structure spotting, sag-tension calculations, clearance analysis, and generation of engineering outputs Perform structural analysis and design of transmission line towers using PLS-TOWER software, including loading assessments, optimization, and verification of structural adequacy Perform structural analysis and design of transmission line poles using PLS-POLE software, including evaluation of loading conditions and compliance with design criteria Prepare foundation design calculations, reports, and construction drawings for transmission line towers and poles based on geotechnical and structural requirements Develop tower and pole loading trees and loading criteria for various operating, construction, maintenance, and contingency conditions Prepare detailed construction drawings, transmission line profiles, plan and profile sheets, staking data, and other engineering drawings required for project execution Prepare, review, and verify material take-offs, material lists, and Bills of Quantities (BoQ) for transmission line projects and associated infrastructure Develop technical specifications for transmission line materials, equipment, structures, conductors, insulators, OPGW, foundations, and associated works Prepare technical sections of tender documents, bidding documents, and participate in technical evaluation of bids and contractor submissions Review engineering designs, drawings, calculations, and technical documents prepared by contractors, and provide comments, recommendations, and approvals as required Prepare and review as-built documentation, drawings, and final project records to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements Provide technical support during procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and project close-out activities Ensure all engineering deliverables comply with applicable IEC, IEEE, ASCE, CIGRE, and utility standards, as well as project-specific requirements Perform any other duties and responsibilities related to transmission line engineering and project implementation as may be assigned by management from time to time Job requirements Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering At least 5 years of experience in the design of high-voltage transmission lines, including 110 kV, 220 kV, and 500 kV systems Full proficiency in the official languages of the country, as well as English Proficiency in computer programs relevant to the position: PLS-CADD PLS-TOWER PLS-POLE AutoCAD MS Office Civil 3D GIS Applications Strong reporting skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective communication and coordination among employees and relevant departments.
