Chinese Language Interpreter

Role summary STATE CORPS is engaged in the procurement, design, supply, and implementation of power and infrastructure projects in Afghanistan. The Company works closely with Chinese manufacturers, suppliers, designers, engineering consultants, and vendors to procure equipment, review technical designs, coordinate engineering activities, and facilitate project implementation. To ensure effective communication between the Company's technical teams and Chinese partners, the Company seeks to recruit a qualified Chinese Language Interpreter and Translator who is fluent in Chinese, Persian, and Pashto, and possesses a sound understanding of civil and electrical engineering, procurement, and technical terminologies. Duties and responsibilities Provide consecutive interpretation during meetings, negotiations, video conferences, factory visits, and technical discussions with Chinese suppliers, manufacturers, designers, consultants, and vendors. Translate correspondence, technical specifications, engineering drawings, equipment manuals, catalogues, contracts, proposals, reports, and other project-related documents between Chinese, Persian, and Pashto. Support communication between the Company's engineering, procurement, logistics, and project management teams and Chinese business partners. Assist technical teams in reviewing engineering documents, equipment specifications, and design submissions. Translate Requests for Quotation (RFQs), Requests for Information (RFIs), purchase orders, technical clarifications, and commercial correspondence. Interpret during factory inspections, equipment testing, virtual meetings, training sessions, and project coordination meetings when required. Facilitate communication regarding procurement, manufacturing schedules, shipment status, quality assurance, and project implementation. Maintain consistency and accuracy in engineering, electrical, mechanical, and construction terminology. Ensure confidentiality of all project information and commercial communications. Perform other language and communication-related duties as assigned by management. Job requirements Education: Bachelor's degree in Chinese Language, Electrical or Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or another relevant discipline. Professional proficiency in Chinese, Persian, and Pashto (spoken and written). Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in interpretation and translation. Experience working with Chinese companies, manufacturers, suppliers, engineering consultants, or contractors is highly desirable. Good understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, or power sector terminology. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments simultaneously. High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications: HSK certification or other recognized Chinese language qualification. Experience supporting procurement of electrical, mechanical, or construction equipment. Familiarity with power generation, transmission, substations, renewable energy, or industrial projects. Knowledge of English will be considered an advantage. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Working Conditions Full-time position. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required, including visits to suppliers' facilities, factories, and project sites. Availability to participate in meetings outside normal working hours when coordinating with international partners. Duty Station: Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and China.
