Role summary
The Deputy Network Manager supports the Network Manager in planning, implementing, securing, and maintaining the organization’s network infrastructure. The role involves assisting in day-to-day operations, monitoring network performance, ensuring security, and providing technical support to branches. The Deputy Network Manager also acts as a backup to the Network Manager during absences and plays a key role in supervising and coordinating network-related activities across the organization.
Duties and responsibilities
Support in Network Design & Specification – Assist the Network Manager in establishing network specifications by gathering user requirements, analyzing workflows, and reviewing access, information, and security needs. Assist in Network Implementation – Support the evaluation of network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, and latency) and participate in equipment selection, installation, configuration, and testing under the guidance of the Network Manager. Network Security Support – Help in monitoring and enforcing security policies, access controls, and firewall configurations while ensuring proper documentation is maintained. User Support & Training – Provide user support, resolve technical issues, and assist in conducting training programs to improve user knowledge and efficiency. System Upgrades & Vendor Coordination – Assist in coordinating with vendors, testing new solutions, and implementing system upgrades and enhancements. Documentation & Standards – Maintain accurate records of network equipment, configurations, and procedures while supporting the development of IT and network standards. Branch Network Support – Visit branches as required to assist with network monitoring, troubleshooting, and surveys under the direction of the Network Manager. Critical Support – Provide backup support for critical incidents, ensuring 24/7 availability when required. Inventory Management – Assist in managing network inventory, spare parts, and related documentation. Confidentiality & Compliance – Ensure that sensitive information is protected and that policies and procedures are followed. Deputy Role – Act as the Network Manager’s delegate during absences, ensuring smooth continuity of network operations. Continuous Learning – Stay updated with the latest networking technologies and best practices to provide effective support.
Job requirements
Minimum Education: Associated degree in an information technology related field. Preferred Education: Master degree in an information technology related filed. Preferred Certifications: CCNA, CCNP and CCIE (will be mostly preferred). At least 4-5 years of experience of managing networks (preferably in banking industry). Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills. Ability to understand data and it's usage. Possess good process management and problem solving skills. Ability to work in a team with a hands-on approach for tasks and should also be able to work independently.
