Role summary
Setaragan Mutahed offers an Accounting Internship Program designed for ACCA students who are looking to gain practical, hands-on experience and develop a strong understanding of accounting operations in a professional business environment. Interns will work under the supervision of the Finance team and will have the opportunity to apply their ACCA knowledge to real-world accounting activities, including E-Top Up sales and inventory, customer accounts, cash and bank transactions, reconciliations, QuickBooks, and financial reporting . The internship is primarily a learning and development opportunity , with interns progressively taking responsibility for practical accounting tasks under appropriate supervision.
Duties and responsibilities
Key Learning & Practical Responsibilities 1. E-Top Up System & Customer Accounts During the internship, interns will gain practical exposure to: - Processing regional customer orders on a daily basis. - Preparing, analyzing, and classifying daily sales reports and posting relevant transactions into QuickBooks. - Reconciling E-Top Up inventory with sales transfer reports in QuickBooks on a daily basis. - Preparing monthly E-Top Up warehouse closing reports. - Reviewing and maintaining customer guarantees and ensuring appropriate approval from the Line Manager before posting credit invoices. - Maintaining and updating customer records, including changes to customer names, addresses, mergers, and mailing details. - Preparing customer status reports, including active and non-active customers. - Sharing customer ledgers with customers through their respective groups on a daily basis. - Reconciling customer ledgers on a weekly basis and confirming outstanding balances/loans. - Identifying and reporting discrepancies in customer ledgers to the Line Manager. - Applying company Finance policies, accounting procedures, and reporting standards in daily activities. - Maintaining an organized and complete filing system for accounting and customer-related documents. 2. Cash & Bank Operations Interns will receive practical exposure to: - Cash receipts and related cash-flow procedures. - Preparing, posting, verifying, and recording customer cash receipts in QuickBooks on a daily basis. - Maintaining proper records of banking receipts, deposit slips, and office-related bank deposits. - Supporting the Finance team with other accounting and cash/bank-related duties as assigned. Reporting & Reconciliation Responsibilities Daily Reporting Interns will learn to prepare and support: - Daily sales, commission, and net balance reports for submission to the Line Manager. - Original Excel working files containing detailed wallet transfer information. - Daily sales and commission summaries, including: Beginning inventory Purchases Sales Commissions Ending inventory - Daily reconciliation of relevant E-Top Up and customer account transactions. Weekly Reporting Interns will gain experience in preparing: - Weekly customer sales reports. - Weekly customer collection reports. - Weekly outstanding loan/balance reports. - Weekly Cash Book reconciliation reports in accordance with company Cash and Bank policies and procedures. - Supporting documentation for all relevant reconciliations and reports. Monthly Reporting Interns will be exposed to monthly closing and reporting procedures, including: - Monthly closing reports covering: Sales Commissions Discounts Incentives Accounts receivable - Monthly E-Top Up closing reports. - Commission and wallet closing reports. - Monthly confirmation and reconciliation of distributor/customer ledgers based on supporting documentation. - Obtaining and maintaining written customer confirmations where required. - Regional warehouse closing reports and reconciliation between the operational system and QuickBooks. Learning Outcomes By the end of the internship, successful interns should have gained practical exposure to: - Applying accounting principles in a real business environment. - Recording and posting transactions in QuickBooks. - Preparing and analyzing Excel-based accounting reports. - Customer ledger management and accounts receivable. - Cash and bank accounting procedures. - Inventory reconciliation and E-Top Up accounting. - Daily, weekly, and monthly financial reporting. - Account reconciliations and discrepancy identification. - Month-end closing procedures. - Supporting documentation and financial record keeping. - Internal controls and compliance with Finance policies. - Professional communication and coordination with customers and Finance team members.
Job requirements
We are looking for motivated ACCA students who: - Have successfully completed 5–7 ACCA papers or are currently progressing through the ACCA qualification at this level. - Have a genuine interest in developing a career in accounting and finance. - Possess a basic understanding of financial accounting and bookkeeping. - Are comfortable working with Microsoft Excel and willing to learn QuickBooks. - Have strong attention to detail and accuracy. - Are willing to learn and work under the supervision of experienced Finance professionals. - Demonstrate good analytical, communication, organizational, and time-management skills. - Are committed to maintaining confidentiality and professional standards. Internship Nature This is a practical learning and professional development internship for ACCA students. Interns will not be expected to have extensive prior work experience. Instead, they will be trained and guided while being given progressive exposure to actual accounting tasks and business processes. Ideal Candidate: ACCA students who have completed 5–7 papers , understands basic accounting concepts, and is eager to convert their theoretical ACCA knowledge into practical accounting experience.
