Role summary
To strengthen inpatient management of Severe Acute Malnutrition in Helmand Province through the deployment of qualified clinical and nutrition staff in newly established Therapeutic Feeding Units
Duties and responsibilities
TASK TO BE PERFORMED : · Responsible for management of SAM children (OPD-SAM and IPD SAM). · Diagnosis, treatment of the SAM patients with medical complication as per the national IMAM guidelines · Checking for all IMNCI danger sign and performance of physical examination for admitted SAM children. · Provide nursing care to inpatient SAM children and prepare milk preparation (F75 and F100) as per standard IMAM guideline. · Ensure proper recording keeping at clinics and report data weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis as per standard reporting format. · Proper stock management and updating of stock cards and RUTF supply management. · Regular conduct sessions and provide health and nutrition education to mothers and care takers of SAM children. · Note: Monthly targets will be used as a reference for performance of MD, Nurses and Nutrition Counsellors. DELIVERABLE(s): · All eligible children are screened for malnutrition. · Number of children screened (using MUAC, weight and height). · All detected SAM children are admitted in IPD-SAM/OPD SAM program and properly managed as per standard IMAM guideline. · Number of SAM children admitted in OPD-SAM program. Number of SAM children admitted in IPD-SAM program and properly treated
Job requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: · Diploma or bachelor’s degree in nursing from a recognized institution; valid nursing registration/license is preferred · Minimum 1-2 years of experience in nutrition, maternal and child health, primary healthcare, or community health programs, preferably with NGOs or humanitarian organizations. · Knowledge and practical experience in CMAM, IYCF, MUAC screening, growth monitoring, nutrition assessment, and management of acute malnutrition. · Ability to provide nutrition counseling, health education, case management, referrals, and maintain accurate records and reports. Fluency in Pashto and/or Dari is required; strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency (MS Office) are essential
