Job Summary 1. Position Overview The IT Officer is responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing the organization’s network infrastructure, access control hardware, and physical security systems. This role ensures maximum network availability, maintains reliable operational hardware (including CCTV and biometric systems), and delivers timely technical support to internal teams. 2. Key Responsibilities Network & Infrastructure Management Device Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain enterprise network switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points (APs). Network Topology & Traffic: Manage VLANs, subnets, routing protocols, and IP address allocation schemes (DHCP, DNS, Static IPs). Performance & Uptime: Monitor network bandwidth, latency, and system performance; proactively diagnose and resolve network outages. Cabling & Hardware Maintenance: Oversee structured cabling, patch panel mapping, server room rack cleanliness, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) deployment. CCTV & Surveillance Systems System Deployment: Install, configure, and maintain IP and analog CCTV cameras, NVRs/DVRs, and storage arrays (NAS/SAN). Operations & Compliance: Manage continuous recording schedules, data archiving, camera positioning, and regular footage retrieval for audits or security reviews. Data Integrity: Ensure compliance with organizational data retention policies and privacy regulations regarding footage access. Biometric & Access Control Systems Hardware Operations: Set up, calibrate, and maintain biometric attendance terminals and electronic door access controllers. User Management: Enroll employee fingerprints, facial recognition profiles, and access cards; coordinate user role access rights. System Integration: Troubleshoot hardware connectivity errors, sync discrepancies, and integration bridges with HR/payroll management software. System Maintenance, Security & User Support Updates & Backups: Execute routine firmware updates, security patching, and configuration backups across all routers, switches, NVRs, and controllers. Documentation: Maintain accurate hardware asset inventories, network diagrams, configuration documentation, and logs. Technical Support: Serve as Level 1 and Level 2 support for network connectivity, access control issues, and workstation hardware/software issues. Job Requirements 3. Technical Skills & Requirements: Category Specifications Networking TCP/IP, VLANs, Subnetting, Routing protocols, Switches, Routers, Firewalls, Wi-Fi Controller Management, PoE Surveillance Hardware IP/Analog CCTV, NVR/DVR management, PoE Switch allocation, Video storage arrays Access Control Biometric terminals (Fingerprint/Facial Recognition), Magnetic locks, Door controllers, HR system integration Diagnostic Tools Cable testers, Wireshark/Packet analysis tools, Network scanning utilities, SNMP monitoring tools 4. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Network Availability: Achieve and maintain 99.5%+ uptime for core network infrastructure. Incident Resolution Time: Resolve physical security hardware issues (CCTV/Biometric) within agreed SLA windows. Preventative Maintenance: Ensure 100% of network and hardware firmware/backups are updated according to schedule. Data Compliance: Zero unexcused gaps in security footage recording or access control system logs.
