Mechanical Technician

Role summary To maintain and troubleshoot HVAC, mechanical, pumping, generator mechanical, and fire-protection mechanical systems to ensure reliable building operation and occupant comfort. The role delivers planned and corrective maintenance across HVAC, pumping, generator-mechanical, and fire-protection mechanical equipment, supporting reliable performance, energy efficiency, and the prompt resolution of faults that could affect building operations or occupant comfort. Duties and responsibilities 1) Technical Operations & Maintenance: Maintain chillers, AHUs, FCUs, VRF/VRV systems, split ACs, package units, ventilation systems, exhaust fans, and pumps. Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of HVAC equipment. Monitor chilled-water supply/return temperatures, pressures, flow, and equipment performance. Inspect compressors, motors, belts, bearings, filters, coils, valves, dampers, and actuators. Identify refrigerant leakage and abnormal operating pressures. Maintain chilled-water piping and associated components. Perform cleaning of filters, coils, strainers, drain pans, and condensate systems. Maintain mechanical rooms and ensure safe access. Maintain diesel generator engines. Inspect fuel, lubrication, cooling, exhaust, belts, hoses, filters, and engine components. Check coolant, engine oil, fuel system, batteries, and associated mechanical components. Support generator load testing and routine inspection. Coordinate with Electrical Technician for electrical generator issues. Maintain electric fire pumps, diesel fire pumps, jockey pumps, valves, pressure systems, and associated mechanical equipment. Conduct regular fire-pump testing and monitor the fire system pressures. Inspect sprinkler, hydrant, hose reel, and fire-water piping systems. Report abnormalities in fire-fighting systems immediately. Maintain domestic water pumps, booster pumps, circulation pumps, sump pumps, drainage pumps, and other mechanical equipment. Conduct lubrication, alignment, belt replacement, and mechanical adjustment. 2) Compliance & Safety: Ensure all engineering operations comply with relevant regulatory codes, company policies, and safety standards. Adhere to and enforce strict safety protocols, including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), and maintain a safe working environment. Work closely with management to ensure compliance with all government regulations. Perform any other duties as assigned by the line manager. Job requirements Educational Qualifications: Minimum education shall be Diploma/Certificate in Mechanical Engineering/HVAC or relevant technical qualification. Bachelor's degree is preferred. Relevant Experience: Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience in Mechanical / HVAC maintenance. Strong HVAC and mechanical maintenance experience preferred. Experience with chillers, AHUs, FCUs, VRF/VRV, pumps, generators, and firefighting systems is preferred. Skills & Competencies: Ability to respond to emergency maintenance calls after hours and work flexible hours as needed. Basic English and computer literacy. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on operational efficiency and risk mitigation. In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems including chillers, AHUs, FCUs, Split ACs, and Exhaust Systems. Strong knowledge of mechanical components including motors, bearings, belts, couplings, valves, filters, and strainers. Knowledge of diesel generator mechanical systems, including engine, fuel, cooling, lubrication, and exhaust systems. Knowledge of firefighting systems, including fire pumps, jockey pumps, diesel fire pumps, sprinklers, hydrant and hose reel. Strong communication, teamwork, coordination, and reporting skills.
