Role summary
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Civil Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for structural design of buildings and related infrastructure, as well as the preparation, coordination, and management of technical and commercial documentation throughout the tendering and project execution lifecycle. This dual-role position requires a professional who can seamlessly integrate structural engineering expertise with documentation and submittal management, ensuring that all project deliverables meet contractual requirements, quality standards, and timelines.
Duties and responsibilities
Structural Design & Engineering Perform complete structural design of small buildings, foundation of poles and high voltage electrical equipment including reinforced concrete and steel structures. Conduct structural analysis and calculations for all structural elements. Prepare detailed structural drawings, shop drawings, and as-built drawings using engineering software. Coordinate with MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) teams to ensure integrated design solutions. Prepare BoQs (Bill of Quantities) and material take-offs for structural works. Review and ensure structural designs comply with applicable building codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Liaise with government authorities (e.g., DABS (Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat), Municipalities) to obtain necessary technical approvals for structural designs. Provide technical supervision during project execution to ensure compliance with approved designs. Documentation & Submittals Prepare and coordinate technical and commercial proposals, tenders, and bids. Review tender documents, specifications, drawings, BoQs, and contractual requirements. Develop method statements, work plans, technical submissions, and project execution plans. Prepare, submit, and track RFIs (Requests for Information), material submittals, shop drawings, and as-built drawings. Prepare invoices, payment applications, variation orders, claims, and supporting documentation. Maintain accurate and controlled technical, commercial, and contractual project documentation. Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers regarding technical and contractual correspondence. Ensure all submissions comply with project specifications, contract requirements, quality standards, and submission schedules. Support contract administration, project reporting, progress documentation, and close-out activities. Review and ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timely submission of all project deliverables.
Job requirements
Education Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Experience Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in structural design, construction engineering, tendering, and project documentation. Technical Skills Proven experience in structural design of reinforced concrete and steel structures. Strong experience in preparing BoQs, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and compliance matrices. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel). Knowledge of construction methods, technical specifications, and contract requirements. Experience with document control systems is an advantage. Core Competencies Strong technical writing, analytical, coordination, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work under pressure. Excellent coordination skills with clients, consultants, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams. Strong command of English (written and verbal); proficiency in Dari and/or Pashto.
