Role summary
To operate and maintain water-treatment and wastewater-treatment systems and ensure appropriate water quality and safe environmental operation. The role ensures that treated water consistently meets the required quality parameters, that treatment chemicals are stored and handled safely, and that all water- and wastewater-treatment equipment is operated and maintained in line with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Duties and responsibilities
1) Technical Operations & Maintenances: Operate and monitor water-treatment systems. Maintain filtration, RO, softening, disinfection, and associated systems where applicable. Monitor pH, TDS, conductivity, turbidity, chlorine, and other applicable water-quality parameters. Operate chemical dosing systems. Maintain treatment pumps, tanks, filters, valves, membranes, blowers, mixers, and associated equipment. Conduct routine cleaning, backwashing, filter replacement, and equipment inspection. Operate and monitor wastewater-treatment systems. Monitor wastewater treatment parameters and identify abnormal conditions. Maintain chemical storage and handling systems. Maintain water-quality and treatment records. Ensure proper handling and storage of treatment chemicals. Support maintenance of water-storage tanks. Coordinate with Mechanical and Plumbing Technicians. 2) Compliance & Safety: Ensure all engineering operations comply with relevant regulatory codes, company policies, and safety standards. Adhere to and enforce strict safety protocols, including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), and maintain a safe working environment. Work closely with management to ensure compliance with all government regulations. Perform any other duties as assigned by the line manager.
Job requirements
Educational Qualifications: Minimum education shall be Diploma/Certificate in water treatment, environmental, chemical or related technical fields. Bachelor's degree is preferred. Relevant Experience: Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience in water and wastewater treatment systems. Strong experience in water treatment, filtration, RO, water quality testing, and wastewater treatment preferred. Experience in commercial, industrial, healthcare, or similar facilities is preferred. Skills & Competencies: Ability to respond to emergency maintenance calls after hours and work flexible hours as needed. Basic English and computer literacy. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on operational efficiency and risk mitigation. In-depth knowledge of water treatment systems, including filtration, RO, softening, disinfection, and chemical dosing systems. Knowledge of wastewater treatment process and associated equipment. Ability to monitor and test pH, TDS, conductivity, turbidity, chlorine, and other applicable water quality parameters. Understanding of HSE, environmental, and chemical-handling requirements. Strong communication, teamwork, coordination, and reporting skills.
