Plumbing Technician

Role summary To maintain domestic water, sanitary, drainage, wastewater system, plumbing fixtures or accessories and fire-water piping systems and ensure continuous and reliable water services. The role keeps water-supply, sanitary, drainage, and fire-water piping systems in good working order, responds promptly to leaks, blockages, and flooding, and ensures that plumbing works do not compromise water quality or fire-protection systems. Duties and responsibilities 1) Technical Operations & Maintenance: Maintain cold and hot water systems. Maintain water tanks, pumps, booster systems, valves, pipes, fittings, and fixtures. Repair water leakage and damaged pipework. Conduct pressure and leakage tests. Maintain toilets, washbasins, faucets, floor drains, and sanitary fixtures. Clear blocked drainage and sewer lines. Maintain drainage and wastewater piping. Respond to flooding and emergency water leakage. Maintain fire-water piping, hydrants, hose reels, sprinkler piping, valves, and tanks. Inspect for leakage, corrosion, blockage, and damaged components. Ensure plumbing modifications do not compromise fire-protection systems. Maintain plumbing tools and spare parts. Maintain work areas safely. 2) Compliance & Safety: Ensure all engineering operations comply with relevant regulatory codes, company policies, and safety standards. Adhere to and enforce strict safety protocols, including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), and maintain a safe working environment. Work closely with management to ensure compliance with all government regulations. Perform any other duties as assigned by the line manager. Job requirements Educational Qualifications: Minimum education shall be Diploma/Certificate in water supply, mechanical and plumbing system or relevant technical qualification. Bachelor's degree is preferred. Relevant Experience: Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience in water supply/plumbing systems maintenance. Strong experience in domestic water supply, booster pumps, sanitary systems, fittings, valves, pipes, and fixtures maintenance are preferred. Experience in commercial buildings, banks, hospitals, or similar facilities is preferred. Skills & Competencies: Ability to respond to emergency maintenance calls after hours and work flexible hours as needed. Basic English and computer literacy. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on operational efficiency and risk mitigation. Good knowledge of domestic cold and hot water systems, water tanks, booster pumps, valves and pipe work. Strong knowledge of PPR, HDPE, PVC, GI, and other commonly used plumbing materials. Ability to identify and repair water leaks, blocked drainage, damaged pipes, valves and sanitary fixtures. Knowledge of fire water systems, including hydrants, hose reels, sprinkler piping, valves, and fire water tanks. Strong communication, teamwork, coordination, and reporting skills. Understanding of HSE requirements and safe working practices.
