Role summary
The Community Mobilizer will support the implementation of Protection, WASH, and Livelihood activities through community outreach, mobilization, awareness-raising, and beneficiary engagement. He will facilitate communication between communities and project teams, disseminate key messages, support referrals and follow-up, collect community feedback, and promote meaningful participation in project activities.
Duties and responsibilities
Job Description: The Community Mobilizer is responsible for supporting community mobilization and engagement activities under Protection, Livelihood Support for Children and Families, and WASH components of the project. The Community Mobilizer will work under the direct supervision of the Project Officer and closely coordinate with technical and field teams to ensure effective community participation and implementation of project activities. Duties & Responsibilities: Work according to the approved project work plan, guidelines, and instructions provided by the Project Officer and technical/implementation teams. Mobilize and engage community members, local leaders, elders, religious leaders, and beneficiaries in project activities. Conduct community awareness sessionsd protection, safeguarding, child rights, prevention of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Support the identification and mobilization of vulnerable children and families who may benefit from protection and livelihood support services. Facilitate community awareness and information sessions related to livelihood opportunities and available support for vulnerable children and their families. Support the identification, screening, and selection of eligible beneficiaries in accordance with approved project criteria. Promote key WASH messages, including hygiene promotion, safe water handling, sanitation, handwashing, and prevention of water- and hygiene-related diseases. Organize community meetings, awareness sessions, campaigns, and behavior change communication activities related to Protection, Livelihood, and WASH interventions. Work closely with community elders, COs, community representatives, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate project implementation. Establish and maintain effective communication between communities, beneficiaries, and the project team, ensuring that community concerns and feedback are properly documented and communicated. Support the referral of vulnerable children and families to appropriate protection and other essential services based on updated service mapping and assist with follow-up where required. Coordinate with relevant local authorities and facilitate meetings between project staff, community representatives, beneficiaries, and government stakeholders. Support the M&E/MEAL team during field visits by facilitating access to communities, beneficiaries, and relevant information. Collect community feedback, concerns, and recommendations and share them with the Project Officer/Team Leader for appropriate follow-up. Support the technical team in conducting community-level assessments, beneficiary verification, and data collection as required. Ensure meaningful participation of women, children, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups in community activities, in line with protection and safeguarding principles. Prepare community-level activity plans, schedules, attendance records, and brief reports and submit them to the Project Officer. Maintain confidentiality and respect the dignity, safety, and rights of all beneficiaries and community members. Perform any other relevant official duties assigned by the Project Officer or project management. · Maintain records of activities, incidents, and training sessions · Prepare weekly and monthly reports Any other tasks will be given by line supervisor.
Job requirements
PERSON SPECIFICATION It is essential that the post holder shows a good understanding and sympathy with Islamic values and principles as well as commitment to Islamic Relief Worldwide vision, mission and safeguarding as well as PSEA. Essential: Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications (Bullet Points) Graduating from university (Gradation in Economics, Agriculture, law, literature or in any other relevant field is the requirement. Bachelor’s degree in social science, Economics, Agriculture, law and another relevant field is preferable. · Interest in humanitarian work and human rights, ability and willingness to learn. · Ability to clearly express one’s thoughts, to analyze and present information clearly and concisely. · Ability to set priorities and show initiative, to work independently and as part of a team. · Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. · At least 2-3 years of work experience in protection in community mobilization and training. · Demonstrated strong experience working with vulnerable children, clients, including survivors at risk and victims of child abuse. · Strong knowledge of protection interviewing techniques and communicating with the affected population. · Familiarity with IASC Guidelines on Protection Support in Emergency Settings. · Good knowledge of English. · Professionally understand (read and write) Dari and Pashto. Candidates from the targeted area, or those who have strong knowledge of and familiarity with the local community, will be given preference. Experience (Bullet Points) Key Personal Qualities (Bullet Points) Desirable: · 2-3 years of relevant experience of working in the community (Social Mobilizing, Community Mobilizing, Social Organizer, Community Facilitator etc). · Fluent in speaking and writing Pashto, Dari and Uzbeki languages. · Honest, Motivated, tolerant, active, and well mannered · Strong Interpersonal & communication skills · Relevant work experience in livelihood on agriculture Programs would be a plus. · High integrity with strict respect for confidentiality and safeguarding principles. · Good communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with communities. · Culturally sensitive with respect for human rights and protection standards. · Proactive, adaptable, and able to work effectively in teams or independently. Computer Skills: Good working knowledge of computer applications (MS Office, outlook, internet etc.)
