In-House Projects Engineer

Role summary The In-House Projects Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and supervising civil works that support communication networks—such as fiber optic routes, ducts, manholes, towers, poles, building foundations, and network infrastructure. The role ensures projects are constructed safely, meet engineering standards, comply with regulations, and are delivered on time and within budget. Duties and responsibilities Prepare and review civil engineering designs for telecom infrastructure (fiber routes, duct banks, trenches, structures). Develop project layouts, route alignments, and site plans in line with network requirements. Support the preparation of drawings, technical specifications, BOQs, and method statements. Supervise civil works installation, including excavation, backfilling, ducting, chambers/manholes, and civil foundations. Inspect work quality such as alignment, levels, compaction, concrete curing, duct integrity, and reinstatement. Ensure works follow approved designs, standards, and approved materials. Ensure compliance with local regulations, utility coordination rules, and telecom rollout requirements. Manage safety practices on site, such as permits-to-work, risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety inspections. Coordinate with authorities for road-opening permits, wayleave/right-of-way processes, and environmental compliance. Coordinate with telecom engineers, surveyors, contractors, and utility companies to prevent service disruptions. Submit daily reports to the Line Manager. Perform any other tasks assigned by the line manager. Job requirements Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant field. Must have 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience (1 year of experience for a master's degree). Fluent in one of the local languages (Dari, Pashto) and English (written and spoken). Must have good knowledge of computer programs related to the field. Familiarity with relevant software, tools, and technology specific to the role. Relevant certificates are preferred. Demonstrates a strong work ethic. Possesses excellent communication skills. Upholds integrity and honesty. Capable of performing well under pressure. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during work. Willingness to travel to other provinces and work additional hours. Adheres to company rules and policies.
