Agriculture Expert – Consultant

Role summary The Agriculture Expert – Consultant will be responsible for providing specialized technical guidance and strategic advice on agricultural development, climate resilience, and sustainable land management throughout project development and implementation. This role requires deep expertise in sustainable agriculture practices, climate-smart farming, soil and water management, and environmentally friendly interventions, along with strong coordination and analytical skills. The expert will serve as a key technical resource, ensuring that agricultural activities incorporate best practices, climate adaptation strategies, and community needs. They will collaborate closely with project teams, local stakeholders, government agencies, and environmental bodies to promote sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture. The Agriculture Expert will also conduct specialized assessments of climate-related risks affecting agriculture, develop technical guidelines for sustainable farming practices, utilize eco-friendly and climate-smart agricultural techniques, and analyze data related to soil health and water management to ensure the sustainability of agricultural systems and food security. Duties and responsibilities · Designing and implementing environmentally safe water treatment and chlorination methods. · Utilizing eco-friendly chemical and physical practices to clean water without harming local ecosystems, wildlife, and surrounding natural resources. · Continuous technical monitoring of chlorine dosage and usage methods in water sources to guarantee the health of humans and nature simultaneously. · Providing technical guidance on sustainable agricultural practices that enhance productivity while conserving natural resources. · Assessing climate-related risks affecting agricultural systems and developing adaptation strategies to build resilience. · Developing technical guidelines for climate-smart and sustainable farming practices tailored to local conditions. · Promoting the use of eco-friendly and climate-resilient agricultural techniques among local communities and stakeholders. · Analyzing soil health, water availability, and other environmental data to inform sustainable land management and agricultural planning. · Any other tasks assigned to him by senior management. Job requirements 1. Education · Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Rural Development, Environmental Science, or related fields. · Master’s degree is an advantage. 2. Work Experience · A minimum of 7 years of Consultation experience in Agricultural development, Climate-resilient farming, Environmental Science, or related fields. · Proven expertise in sustainable land management, soil conservation, and crop production technique. · Knowledge of climate change impacts on agriculture and adaptation strategies. 3. Soft Skills · Excellent communication and negotiation skills in both English and local languages (Dari/Pashto). · Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. · Ability to work effectively with government agencies, donors, contractors, and communities. · High level of integrity, accountability, and commitment to quality and safety.
