Role summary
Implement gynecological and obstetrician procedures, performing any other prior treatment required, during or immediately after a woman has given birth in order to improve women’s reproductive health and to reduce pregnancy, delivery and neonatology risks. This will be done in accordance with MSF policies, protocols and universal hygiene standards and in multidisciplinary collaboration with other medical doctors and midwife services.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provide health care related to gynaecology and obstetrics to patients, including prevention, diagnosis and treatment. - Ensure the implementation of MSF clinical policies, tools, guidelines and protocols related to gynaecology and obstetrics in order to minimize clinical risk and to extend best reproductive practices. - In collaboration with other medical colleagues, carry out the collection of quantitative gynaecological data and ensure exhaustive use of management tools in order to improve gynaecological results and to share knowledge among other field specialists. - Plan and supervise the HR associated processes (recruitment, training, performance evaluation, development and internal/external communication) of the gynaecological staff in order to ensure both an efficient sizing and the amount of knowledge required, to improve people’s capabilities and their active participation in influencing the targeted population using preventive practices. This will be done in close coordination with the HR department. - Supervise the maintenance and running of the gynaecological equipment and drug consumption, preparing new orders when required and ensuring its rational use as well as that pharmacy stock levels are permanently updated and available. This will be done in cooperation with the pharmacist and logistic staff, the management. MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities - Provide obstetric and gynecological care within the Women's Health clinic, including comprehensive clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of patients presenting with reproductive and women's health conditions following MSF guidelines. - Ensure timely identification of patients requiring referral for further investigation, advanced management, or specialized care, and facilitate appropriate referral pathways to promote continuity of care. - Respect and follow IPC measures at all times during practicing in women health clinic. - Deliver technical supervision, mentorship, and on-the-job coaching to midwives and medical staff on the management of complex obstetric and gynecological cases, contributing to capacity building and quality of clinical care. - Report medical incident and participate in clinical case reviews, multidisciplinary discussions, and management planning, providing specialist recommendations to optimize patient outcomes and ensure adherence to evidence-based practices. - Support continuous quality improvement initiatives within the Women's Health clinic by reviewing clinical practices, identifying gaps in service delivery, and recommending corrective actions to enhance the quality and safety of care. - Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mental health, health promotion, and other medical services, to ensure comprehensive management of patients with complex or high-risk conditions. - Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation, clinical records, and referral information. - Promote patient-centered care by ensuring confidentiality, informed decision-making, respect, dignity, and cultural sensitivity in all clinical interactions. - Participate in relevant medical meetings, training, and continuous professional development activities to maintain and enhance clinical competencies. - Support in data collection and analysis for monthly medical report. - Timely report any incident directly to her line manager for appropriate action.
Job requirements
Minimum Requirements and Competencies Education - Gynecology specialist diploma. Essential. Experience - At least 2-year certified work experience in Gynaecology jobs Essential. - Previous experience with MSF or other NGO’s in developing countries Desirable Languages - Pashto and Dari: oral and written – Essential - English language: oral and written – Essential Knowledge - Computer literacy (word, excel and PowerPoint) Essential Competencies. - Results, Teamwork, Flexibility, Commitment, Stress management.
